  • 2-2-05: Freezing Drizzle Module
    The NWA Training Module section has been added to the Miscellaneous page, and the first module added is for freezing drizzle. This page was developed by Melissa and Eric and will be expanded upon in the near future. Also look for a Mountain Wave Module next, possibly followed by others.

  • 12-25-04: METARS and TAFS for Asia Stations Added
    A link to a list of METARS and TAFS for the stations NWA flies to in Asia/Western Pacific has been added to the East Asia page (see the yellow box in the upper, right-hand corner). Because the parsing of the data takes about 30 seconds, you will have to wait a few moments for the list to appear.

  • 7-26-04: Real-Time Situation Displays Now Available Online
    The Radar section of the Surface page now includes links to the online Real-Time Situation Displays, which include SGF, LIT, JAN, ABQ, AUS, ORF, ROC, DFW, MCO, MEM and NYC. More links will be added as they become available. A direct link to the MEM ITWS is also available on the Home page. A username and password is necessary to access these images.
  • 5-3-04: Australia Weather Information
    A new section has been added to the East Asia page to cover Australia weather. This new section includes synoptic charts, satellite images, radar and even lightning data.
  • 2-10-04: East Asia Page Added
    A new webpage has been added to the menu to cover eastern Asia and the western Pacific called EAST ASIA. When the POC closes this summer we will need to have access to the weather information in that region. Please contact us with any suggestions for links that will be helpful. We are particularly looking for links to information concerning forecasting for specific stations to which NWA flies.

  • 1-6-04: Alaska Weather Cams Added
    Weather cams for the Anchorage airport and the city have been added to the surface page under "Alaska Weather." In addition, the Tide Table for Anchorage has also been added to the same section. These new links should be useful for fog detection and forecasting.

  • 11-10-03: Xpedite Included on Home Page
    On the left-hand side of the home page a link and a button have been added to retrieve instructions on the new Xpedite faxREACH service and to connect to Xpedite faxREACH. This new web-based fax service is designed to replace the manual AT&T fax service currently being used.

  • 11-10-03: Space Weather Information Links Added
    Links to the Space Environment Center and Today's Space Weather have been added to the Miscellaneous page. There have been recent question concerning solar flares, which have been affecting satellite communications. Individuals can now be directed to the Space Weather links to get more information.

  • 10-23-03: LAMP Model Added
    The NWS LAMP Model has been added to the home page and the surface page. This models provides detailed forecasts of ceiling heights, as well as visibility and temperature forecasts. There is a detailed explananation available at the website as to how the forecast is created.

  • 9-05-03: OWA Mail Links Added to Website
    Links to the Outlook Web Access (OWA) online email system have been added to the Home page and the Miscellaneous page.

  • 7-07-03: FOM Manual Added to Website
    The new online version on the Flight Operations Manual for Northwest Airlines and the Flight Operations webpage have been added to the portal. You can find both links on the Miscellaneous page.

  • 7-07-03: Canadian Lightning Closeups Added
    Closeup views of Canadian Lightning have been added to the home page. These closeup images seem to update more often than the Canadian national lightning image.

  • 8-06-02: Radar Archives Added
    UCAR now provides archives for radar composites and individual sites for 21 days. This will be very useful for investigating past precipitation events. Radar images are placed in the archives in 5 minute intervals. Current images are also available. Links to these archives can be found on the Surface page under the Radar category.

  • 7-02-02: New Mountain Wave Model Added
    The Naval Research Laboratory's Mountain Wave Forecast Model has been added to the Upper Air page. In addition, Jeff's WXP Looper was added to the front page of the website.

  • 4-19-02: DFP Button Added
    A button to check the status of the DFP (JetPlan) Winds has been added to the home page. The same link was also added to the Miscellaneous page. In addition, various links to the Global Convective Diagnostic have been added to the website.

  • 3-4-02: Mountain Wave Forecasting Section Added
    An entire new Mountain Wave Forecasting section has been added to the Upper Air page. Also included is a small table labeled "Melissa's Propagating Mountain Wave Parameters." Please consult the guidelines available at the Upper Air position for further details.

  • 2-13-02: New Korean Satellite Page Added
    Added Asian/Global Satellite to both the Satellite and Hurricane/Typhoon Forecasting sections of the Surface page.

  • 2-6-02: Added Snow Totals Information
    Added U.S. Snow Monitoring (Recent Snowfall and Snowdepth) to Snow Forecasting section of the Surface page.

  • 9-30-01: All Pages Complete
    All the pages now have various links. New links being accepted for inclusion.

  • 8-30-01: Most Pages Nearing Completion
    A number of new links have been placed on the major pages. The Volcano and Miscellaneous pages will soon be populated with links.

  • 8-1-01: Northwest Airlines Meteorology Portal Launched
    The portal was placed online at Freeservers.com. Links will gradually be added to each category. Most categories expected to be filled by August 15.
